On May 16, 2025, the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) published Ordinance No. 765, which officially extends the start of the validity of the new wording of chapter 1.5 – Occupational Risk Management of Regulatory Standard 1 (NR-1).
The main change in this update concerns the approach to managing psychosocial risks in the workplace. With this change, the standard's entry into force, which was scheduled to begin on May 26, 2025, has been postponed to May 25, 2026. This change cancels the previous forecast of an educational and guidance start date starting in May of this year, meaning that the standard will not be applied, not even in a guidance manner, until the new date established.
The decision, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, aims to offer a longer period for companies, health and safety professionals, unions and other interested parties to adapt in a structured and safe manner to the requirements of the standard, especially in relation to changes regarding prevention in the workplace, psychosocial risks and mental health of employees.
During this new interval, the MTE is expected to advance in the preparation of a detailed technical manual and in the creation of the previously announced National Tripartite Thematic Commission, which will have the function of monitoring and improving the standard.
