The FGTS (Brazilian Severance Indemnity Fund) Board of Trustees approved the distribution of part of the Fund's positive result for 2025. R$ 13 billion, equivalent to 89% of the period's profit, will be transferred directly to workers' linked accounts.
Who is entitled? All workers who had a balance in their FGTS (Brazilian employee severance fund) account on December 31, 2025, approximately 138.2 million people, are eligible. No application or form completion is required: the credit is automatic and proportional to the balance on that date.
When and howThe amount will be credited in the first half of August and can be checked on the statement, through the FGTS app, or on Caixa Econômica Federal channels. The distributed amount will be added to the account balance and follows the same withdrawal rules already applicable to the FGTS, that is, it can only be withdrawn in the cases provided for by law, such as dismissal without just cause, anniversary withdrawal, retirement, and purchase of real estate.
What changes in practice? The distribution adds 1.87% of income to the accounts and raises the total FGTS remuneration in 2025 to 6.90%, a result above inflation as measured by the IPCA in the same period. In practice, the worker's balance remained more protected from loss of purchasing power than it would have been with the Fund's traditional remuneration.
RecommendationWorkers and employers should follow official announcements and check their statements starting in August. In case of discrepancies in the credited amount, it is possible to seek clarification from Caixa or specialized legal advice.
